East End was founded as a place for folks to gather to enjoy great food, great drinks and great company. Over the last 7 years, it has grown to be not just a restaurant, but a part of this community's fabric. East End has been a home as well as a place of employment for so many awesome people, a number of whom have been part of this crazy team since the day we opened our doors. Sadly, many were displaced when we had to suspend in-house service on March 15, 2020 due to Coronavirus mandated shut-downs.
Now all those wonderful people who were THE front line of hospitality at East End are unable to work. Keeping the doors open for take out/delivery just can't provide for all of them.
We as the owners of East End have nothing but gratitude for our family's commitment to us, to each other and to all of you that they serve. Their contributions have been essential to creating the East End we set out to make. We cannot wait for the moment when we can welcome everyone back.
But until then...
This fundraiser is exclusively about supporting displaced staff of East End. This isn't to help East End as a business, just our people laid off due to the mandated closure.
Many of us live paycheck to paycheck and our great group is no exception. While we have encouraged all to file for unemployment benefits, and many have, the process there is not speedy and it will not cover many to the extent their earnings at East End did.
Any funds raised will be distributed in full to displaced staff based on time worked over the course of the past 12 months.
Please help us take care of those who have taken care of us and you for quite a stretch. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. And we hope you find it in your hearts to help.
