Easing the Distance: Support for Jorge and Family

Donation protected
About 10 months ago, our lives changed and our beloved family member was taken from us. Jorge was unexpectedly detained by ICE after being picked up from a medical appointment. For two and a half months he was held at the Tacoma detention center before ultimately being deported to Nicaragua — the country where he was born but had not lived in for more than 40 years.
Oregon has been Jorge’s home and where he built his life, his community, and where his family remains. Being suddenly separated from the people and place he loves has been incredibly painful for all of us.
Jorge is now in Nicaragua trying to start over in a place that feels unfamiliar after so many years away. He recently managed to secure a small apartment, but rebuilding a life from scratch has been incredibly difficult. At the same time, his absence has left both an emotional and financial gap for the family he left behind here in Oregon.
We are asking for support to help him get settled with basic needs like housing, food, and daily essentials while he finds his footing. Your support will also help ease the financial strain on the family here who continues to do everything we can to support him from afar.
Any contribution, big or small, truly means the world to us.

If you’re unable to give, sharing Jorges story also helps more than you know.
Thank you for keeping Jorge and our family in your thoughts and prayers and for helping us support him during this incredibly difficult chapter.
