Supporting Sierra After the Loss of Both Parents
Hi, my name is Casey.
Yesterday, my best friend Sierra lost her mom, Tammy, who passed away unexpectedly in her sleep. This loss comes just a few years after Sierra lost her father, Chris.
Sierra has been navigating this loss alongside her family — her sister Kainoa, Kainoa’s husband Wes, and their daughter Sienna, as well as her brother Cole, his wife Grace, and their daughter Emily. Together, they are grieving the loss of Tammy while holding one another up through an incredibly difficult chapter.
Sierra was the primary caregiver to both of her parents, walking with each of them through the most vulnerable and difficult chapters of their lives — lovingly, selflessly, and with incredible strength. She was by their side when they passed, and she has carried the emotional, physical, and financial weight of that responsibility largely on her own.
Sierra is a small business owner who has always had to pave her own way in life. She has paid out of pocket for both of her parents’ end-of-life expenses, and she has now taken on the care of Tammy’s beloved dog, Mocha, ensuring he remains safe and loved.
With Tammy’s passing, Sierra is facing the costs of:
- Memorial expenses for her mother
- Taking time off of work to grieve
- Travel back to the Central Coast for Tammy’s memorial
- Ongoing monthly living expenses, as Tammy had been living with Sierra in her home in Humboldt County
Grieving the loss of both parents in such a short span of time is an unimaginable emotional burden. To carry that while continuing to grow and sustain her farrier business is more than anyone should have to manage alone.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you so much. Every bit of support will help ease the financial weight of this moment and give Sierra some breathing room as she navigates grief, responsibilities, and everyday life.
And if you’re not able to give, sharing this or simply holding Sierra in your thoughts is just as meaningful.
I truly can’t think of anyone more deserving of some support during such an incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for showing up for Sierra in whatever way you can.
