Hi everyone, it’s Cordell.

As many of you know, I’m from St. James, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and over the past few days, my heart has been completely shaken by what Storm Melissa has done to my community. Roads have collapsed, homes have been destroyed, entire families have lost everything — and my own family home, including my late grandmother’s house, has been severely damaged.

Seeing my community — people I grew up with, neighbours who helped raise me, friends, elders, children — now struggling with no roofs, no dry clothes, no clean water, and no way forward has been incredibly painful. While I’m grateful that my loved ones are safe, the reality is this: they have nothing left.

That is why I’m starting this GoFundMe.

✅ What This Fund Will Be Used For

100% of the funds raised will go directly towards helping families in the hardest-hit parts of Montego Bay (and surrounding affected communities). This includes:

❤️ Essential emergency supplies

Food and clean water

Bedding & sheets

Clothing for adults and children

Hygiene products

Baby essentials

Torches, batteries, first-aid items

️ Home repairs & rebuilding support

Roofing materials (zinc sheets, plywood, tarpaulin)

Repairs to damaged walls

Fixing broken windows/doors

Helping families restore livable spaces

Community support

Many roads in and around our area have collapsed or are impassable. Funds may also support:

Clearing debris

Fixing or stabilising community access routes

Supporting elderly residents who cannot manage on their own

None of this money will be used for personal gain. It will all go toward real families with real needs — and you will see exactly where every pound goes.
