Support the Tyree Family as Dustin Recovers From Cancer

If you know Dustin and Erin, you know that they'd give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. Dustin and Erin don't know a stranger... everyone they meet becomes an instant friend. These two are some of the kindest, most giving, and compassionate people I know. They help everyone around them, and it's their turn to receive some help.

I'm Erin's cousin, Amy. While we've lived in separate states our whole lives, it hasn't changed how much I treasure my friendship with her and Dustin.

Unfortunately, the last few months have been rough to say the very least.

Back in March, Erin and Dustin found out they were pregnant with their second baby. While this should have been an incredibly exciting time, it was also around this time that they noticed a mass in Dustin's leg. After fighting insurance for entirely too long, an MRI in July revealed that he had cancer.

In Dustin's words: "Once the results of the MRI came back, I was scheduled to see a specialist to have the mass biopsied. They said I should know something in 5-7 business days. They called me back the very next day, which happened to be the day before Erin was to he induced for labor to tell me the mass in my leg was a lyposarcoma… CANCER!"

Yes, Erin gave birth to their second, beautiful daughter, Merebes, the day after learning of Dustin's cancer diagnosis in late September.

Soon after, Dustin began daily radiation treatments. Because of his treatments and having to travel to Nashville, Dustin was forced to take time off work to fight the cancer.

In November, Erin lost her mother. The devastating loss was sudden, and with a newborn baby while Dustin was fighting cancer, the grief was compounded.

Through their grief, Dustin continued to fight cancer, and Erin continued to hold down the fort with her girls at home. Dustin has said that "the fatigue, along with radiation burns in places that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, have been hard to contend with to say the least" BUT thankfully he completed 6 weeks of radiation treatments in December, then underwent surgery to remove the rest of the mass (the size of a cantaloupe!) in early January.

Between treatment, surgery, having a newborn, and losing her mom, Erin and Dustin have been put through entirely too many hardships in the last 9 months all while being unable to work. If you know them, though, you know how they've handled everything privately and with grace!

I wanted to start this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial burden as medical bills from Merebes' birth, Dustin's cancer treatments, and surgery all continue to roll in.

Whether you have $10, $100, or $1,000 to donate, it all adds up to help support Dustin, Erin, Aria and Merebes as they try to regain their footing after an incredibly difficult season of life.

Thank you for your words of support, donations, and sharing this fundraiser to help support the Tyree family!
