Eagle Scout Project:StoryWalk for Richmond Library

My name is Cameron McDonald. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 39 in Marlborough, CT. I am pursuing the highest rank in Scouting, which is the Eagle Scout rank. This includes planning and executing a service project for a local non-profit organization in May 2021.

I will be creating a "StoryWalk" for the Richmond Memorial Library in my community. A StoryWalk is when a children's book is separated page-by-page, and each page is given its own display. These displays are then placed consecutively along a path, so that in order to read the story one must walk the path. It is designed to promote reading, exercising, and enjoying the outdoors. The library is conveniently located next to our local elementary school, where students can access it within walking distance.

As a scout, it is my responsibility to secure the funding for my project. The funds will be used to buy the material, tools and supplies necessary to make and install 16 permanent displays.

Please consider encouraging me in providing the library and the families in our community with this StoryWalk that will be available to all of them, all year round.

Thank you for your consideration

Yours in Scouting,
