Eagle Scout Project: Water Caches for Pacific Crest Trail

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ronin Holcomb, currently a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 2222. I’m working on my Eagle Scout Project!

For my project, I’m partnering with the U.S. Forest Service to support hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail specifically the “desert” section that passes through our local valley of Santa Clarita. During the summer, clean water sources in this area are scarce, and hikers often struggle to find safe drinking water.

To help, I’m raising funds to build and install four secure storage boxes (or caches) at U.S. Forest Service approved locations along the trail. These boxes will safely store water left by the Trail Angels Organization for hikers. Right now, supplies are often left on the ground, where they can be scattered by wind or wildlife, creating litter and harming the environment.

My goal is to make this stretch of the trail safer for hikers and cleaner for the environment. Any donation big or small will help cover the cost of building materials and supplies.

Thank you for supporting my Eagle Scout project and helping make a positive impact on both the hiking community and our local environment!
