Hello, I am a Boy Scout from Troop 1000 and a Junior at George Ranch High School. I have lived in Greatwood my whole life, and have been heavily involved in the flag program during holidays for the past six years, which allows Greatwood to help fund troop 1000. Since Greatwood has done so much for our troop, I would like to give back to the community with my Eagle Scout Project. My project involves the restoration of Pickens Cemetery, which is located in Greatwood (627 Deer Hollow Dr, Sugar Land, TX, 77479).

There is a record of who is buried in the cemetery, however all of the grave stones were lost due to farming in the area many years ago. Since the burials are not honored properly, my goal is to locate the bodies using GPR scanning technology (this process has already started) and place new grave markers, as well as a plaque with the names of the deceased.

The money raised will contribute to production of the new markers, the plaque, and some basic landscaping. I have gone through the city of Sugar Land, Fort Bent County, and the Greatwood HOA to get the necessary approval for this project. I am planning to complete this project by March 1st.

All excess proceeds will be used to benefit Nery’s Promise in Richmond. For those who don’t know, Nery’s Promise is a Non-Profit organization that offers a nurturing environment to the children who are less fortunate in the Richmond-Rosenberg area.
