My name is Dylan Pedersen. My journey in Scouting America began when I was in 1st Grade as a Tiger in Cub Scouts. I’m currently a Life Scout working towards my Eagle Rank. In order to achieve this highest rank, a Scout must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project which benefits a non-profit organization or community.

My Eagle Scout Project is to renovate an outdoor classroom at the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo. I will be designing and building 6–7 custom wooden toadstool stools for seating and installing two 8-foot shelving units to help organize educational materials.

Like me, you may have visited the Junior Museum & Zoo when you were younger and have fun memories of your time there. This project is a special opportunity to give back to a place that has been a staple of our community for years.

Currently, the outdoor classroom is bleak and lacks proper storage, which means materials often end up scattered and seating is outdated. The zoo has expressed that the area would benefit greatly from a renovation. By adding the toadstool seating and new shelving, the area will become more orderly, accessible, and better suited for the zoo's educational programs and summer camps. Overall, it will help the staff manage their supplies and provide children with a much more comfortable and welcoming environment for learning.

To make my project a reality, I need your help. I am looking to raise $700 to cover the costs of high-quality lumber, mounting hardware, tools, and other necessary supplies. Donations in any amount are welcome and very much appreciated. Any funds remaining after the project is completed will be used to purchase decorative potted plants for the outdoor classroom.
