I am Brandon Ortiz, a Troop 68 senior scout. I am fundraising for my Eagle Project, where I will build a meditative labyrinth for the Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit. I have been a scout since entering the 5th grade, and I have worked hard to reach the part of my progression where I must complete this project to achieve Eagle rank, which will open many beneficial opportunities for me in the near and far future. This labyrinth will be provided to a community that my family has been a part of for quite some time, and I have chosen to build it as a gift for the community where I have made many significant memories.
What is a labyrinth? - a labyrinth is a meandering path leading to a central area, which can be used as a meditative or social space for anyone who walks it. The mulched path will be lined with stones in a Roman pattern (basic design pictured below) to allow for a short but peaceful walk.
The labyrinth will be constructed over the area of a 40ft. circle. I hope to receive $2000 in donations to purchase the materials for the build, and any extra funds will be donated to the Congregation. The members of Beacon and I greatly appreciate any assistance that can be made. THANK YOU!!!
