Eagle Scout Project - Lending Libraries

My Name is Andrew Feaster, and I’m a Boy Scout in Troop 180 and a Freedom High School student in New Tampa. I started Cub Scouts when I was 6 years old as a Tiger Cub and I am currently working towards my Eagle Scout rank. The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest rank in the Scouting organization and it embodies the twelve Scout characteristics: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. To conclude my Scouting endeavors, I am doing a project that gives back to my community, where I have lived my entire life.

For my Eagle project, I will build and install three Lending Libraries – one at the Richmond Place Community Park, one at the West Meadows Community Park and one in Tampa Palms. Currently, we don’t have this feature in these communities, and it’s important that children and adults have access to books. Having the book houses at the parks provides easy access for people to donate books and take books while they are at the playground and pool. Sharing books keeps them out of the landfill and it encourages people to read.

My project has been approved and I anticipate the Little Lending Libraries to be installed with books by the summer of 2024.
