As part of my journey to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, I have committed to completing a significant service project that benefits my community. This project is not only a requirement for earning the Eagle Scout rank but also an opportunity for me to make a lasting, positive impact on the people around me. I chose this particular project—installing backstop netting and 20-foot metal poles—because of its importance in enhancing safety and usability for Remsburg Park.

The project addresses a clear need: errant balls frequently leave the playing area, posing safety risks to spectators, not to mention the parking lot just feet away from the field. By completing this project, we can create a safer and more functional space for everyone to enjoy.

What the Project Entails

This project involves:

Installing Four 15-Foot Metal Poles: These will serve as the foundation for the backstop netting. The poles will be securely anchored in the ground to ensure durability and safety.

Setting Up Backstop Netting: Spanning 90 feet, the netting will catch errant balls and prevent them from leaving the playing area.

Engaging Volunteers: I will lead a team of volunteers, coordinating their efforts to complete the project efficiently and safely.

Planning and Fundraising: Beyond the physical work, I am responsible for planning every aspect of the project, from budgeting to sourcing materials and ensuring all safety guidelines are followed.

This project is about more than just completing a task; it’s about learning leadership, teamwork, and project management skills while leaving a legacy that benefits the community for years to come.
