My name is Tristan Luescher, and I am a 17-year-old Life Scout with Troop 554, Longhorn Council, Scouting America. For my Eagle Scout Service Project — the highest rank in Scouting, earned by fewer than 4% of all Scouts — I am assembling and distributing 1,000 Blessing Bags to individuals experiencing homelessness in Fort Worth, Texas.
What is a Blessing Bag? Each bag contains hygiene essentials, non-perishable snacks including granola bars, peanut butter crackers, mixed nuts, fruit snacks, beef jerky, and cookies, along with water, electrolyte packets, socks, hand warmers, and a note of encouragement.
Where do the bags go?
- Presbyterian Night Shelter / True Worth Place — 750+ bags
- Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County — 250 bags
Why this project? There are approximately 2,400 people experiencing homelessness in Fort Worth. I wanted to do something that would make a real, tangible difference for as many people as possible. One bag at a time, we can show our neighbors that this community cares about them.
How your donation helps: All funds are donated directly to Presbyterian Night Shelter of Tarrant County, who will manage the funds in support of this project. Every dollar goes toward filling 1,000 bags with items that provide comfort, nutrition, and dignity to our neighbors in need.
