Eagle Scout project creating a Gold Star Family Memorial

Hello, my name is Taylor Hirst, and I am an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 56, Wilmington, Massachusetts. I am doing a service project to help my community. My project will be the installation of a Gold Star Family Monument in Wilmington, Massachusetts. I am raising money to cover the cost of the monument. If you can donate to help with the cost of the monument, including engraving, placement, and a concrete base/footing, I would greatly appreciate it.

A Gold Star Family is a family whose loved one was killed or is missing in action. Most individuals consider Gold Star Families the immediate family (Parents, Siblings, Spouse, children); many don't realize this includes extended families such as aunts/uncles and cousins. When developing this project, I discovered that my own family is a Gold Star family due to a cousin who was killed in Vietnam.

This monument will serve as a lasting tribute to the Gold Star Families in Wilmington, recognizing their sacrifice and honoring their loss. Wilmington has a proud history of supporting and commemorating its veterans, being designated as a Purple Heart Community with numerous memorials throughout the town. There is currently no monument dedicated to the Gold Star Families who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This project will address that gap, ensuring families who have given so much are honored and remembered.
