Good day,

My name is Husayn Madani, a Life Scout at Laguna Woods Troop 774. I have chosen an archery workbench as my Eagle Scout Project for Orange County Archery (OCA), an indoor archery range in Mission Viejo.

OCA, which opened in 2000, is the only indoor archery range in Orange County and has been a cornerstone of the local archery community for the past 25 years. In addition to supporting recreational archers, OCA will also be the only facility in Orange County for future Olympians to train for the 2028 LA Olympics and Paralympics as the city of Mission Viejo is set to host training facilities for the 2028 LA Olympics and Paralympics. OCA has played an essential role in helping many Scouts in addition to being a facility used by law enforcement officers, military forces, and first responders. As someone who has been shooting there for the past seven years, I’m excited to give back to the place that has supported my own growth and the growth of others.

The current workbench at OCA has become worn-out and outdated. The frame is loose, and the shelves have buckled. My goal is to design and build a new, stable, and durable workbench that addresses these issues while also adding a dedicated accessible counter for individuals with disabilities. The accessible counter will allow OCA to host Paralympic archers and ensure that the facility can accommodate everyone in the community.

The materials and supplies required for the project will cost an estimated total of $1,600.

The workbench is 16 feet long and made up of three movable sections for easy cleaning and maintenance, that will be attached for a seamless work surface.

Both the standard counter and the accessible counter will have electrical outlets for the convenience of the archers.

I have designed a totem leg, a carved Eagle, to represent the Eagle Scout.
