Dear Family, Friends, and Fellow Eagle Scouts,
For the last nine years, I have been involved in Scouting within my community. I began as a Cub Scout in first grade and joined Boy Scout Troop 123 in fifth grade. Recently, I was elected Senior Patrol Leader of my Troop, and I am excited about this opportunity! This year, I will begin my journey to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. The first part of this journey will be completing an Eagle Service Project.
My project will involve renovating a garden space and creating ten raised garden beds to grow vegetables and herbs. The garden is located at St. Sophia Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio. This church serves a large homeless population and has a daily soup kitchen to help feed these individuals.
I am excited about this project because I love to garden. I plant a vegetable garden with my dad in our backyard each year. So, I am happy to help this church attain its goal of creating a garden to produce food for its kitchen.
The first phase of my project involves removing some trees from the garden area. I completed this part of the project with my older brother Matthew, an Eagle Scout, who was home from college to help me!
The project's second phase involves cleaning the garden space and building the garden beds. For this part of the project, I will need lumber to create the ten garden beds, soil to fill them, and several plants and seeds to start the garden.
I am writing to ask if you would be willing to donate to support my project. Any donation is appreciated, and no gift is too small!
Thanks in advance for your generosity!
Yours in Scouting,
Daniel Schmidt
