I am Adeline, a Laguna Beach Scout working on my Eagle Scout project to install an AED station (Automated External Defibrillator, a device to treat cardiac arrest) at the Discovery Cube Science Center in Anaheim, CA. AEDs are a lifesaving technology that can make a huge difference in emergencies. Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death, and using an AED can increase survival rates from 10% to 74%. My mentor, Dr. Denham and I saw the need for this device at the busy Discovery Cube, where so many families and children visit, and wanted to help make my community safer.

My fellow Scouts, LBHS students, and I have already put in many hours planning and preparing for this project. The last step is purchasing the AED kit, which also includes Stop the Bleed kits, Narcan, a pulse oximeter and other rescue gear. Every donation will go directly toward getting this important equipment, so the Discovery Cube is ready to respond if someone needs help.
