Hi, my name is Arya and I am fundraising for my Eagle Project. A part of being an Eagle Scout is organizing a project that benefits our community. As a result, I wish to build a Tiny Home for the homeless. Right now, there are around 11,751 people experiencing homelessness on one night in January, with 53 percent sheltered and 47 percent unsheltered. The total reflects a five percent increase compared to the 2019 count. I am supporting SoundfoundationsNW and their goal to end homelessness by building transitional Tiny Homes. Each Tiny Home will house up to 60 individuals during the lifetime of the home and will give each individual a chance to get back on their feet. I picked this project and would like to build a tiny home, because of the impact it has on our community. Statistically, Seattle has a high percentage of homeless individuals. This means that there is a large number of individuals without a roof over their heads. Housing and shelter are extremely important aspects of survival, and basic human needs, which many individuals don’t have access to. Among many factors that cause homelessness, a major factor is how expensive housing is, as housing in the Seattle area is extremely expensive and unaffordable. I would like to help combat this problem by building a shelter that individuals can stay in until they find a more permanent shelter solution.
The best part of this project is that throughout the lifetime of the tiny home, I know I can help 60 individuals, which is huge. The fact that I can help support 60 individuals and give them a roof over their heads is something that would be outstanding. The impact of this project would outweigh any other project that I have encountered and would make me feel like I contributed and built something permanent in my community. That is the point of an Eagle project, and I feel like this project best represents my passion for helping our community, as a scout.
I would like to raise $5,000, as each Tiny Home costs $4,500 to build, but I would like to donate the extra $500 to provide essential supplies such as food and clothing. This way, each individual that lives in the house can have adequate food and clothing.
Don't forget to visit https://www.soundfoundationsnw.org/ for additional information.
Please donate, and together we can help turn around 60 lives, and be part of the solution to the homeless epidemic in Seattle!
