Hi, I am Ryan Phu and I am most definitely NOT selling you popcorn, (or cookies even though that belongs to the girl scouts lol) I am a Boy Scout from Troop 1203 of Mira Mesa in San Diego who is aspiring to impact the community of San Diego through my project. I have been active in Scouting since I was 6 years old my sole dream was to achieve the Eagle Scout Rank. I joined as a Tiger Cub Scout and it has sure been a long, fun, and adventurous ride...11 years later, after being a two-time Senior Patrol Leader, I am leading my troop from the highest leadership position and currently undertaking my new venture of my Eagle Project that has been in progress since October 2019.

The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Scout can achieve.  It is estimated that only 2% of boys that begin Scouting will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. In order to earn this rank I have to progress through 6 different ranks, complete 21 merit badges, hold a leadership position within my Troop for 6 months, plan, develop, and give leadership to an Eagle service project, take part in a Scoutmaster conference and complete an Eagle Scout Board Review.  I am currently working on my Eagle project which requires me to plan out a project, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, and act as the supervisor/leader of the project.

My project will consist of restoring and transforming the historical cistern for educational presentations during school field trips at the Los Penasquitos Ranch House. It will be led by me, Ryan Phu, of Troop 1203 from Mira Mesa. The project will take 4 weeks and will transform the unused Cistern into an Amphitheater by adding 6 benches, a stage, and restoring it with decomposed granite. 

I am looking forward to working with and leading the Scouts in my Troop as my last project with them.  I plan to start my project on October 24th and have it completed by the start of November 22nd.  I expect that this project will take about 4 weekends to complete.

This process will incur expenses involving materials, safety equipment, and other supplies, which are likely to approach $2000. Any funds raised in excess of the actual expense will be donated to a charity of their choosing. 

In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the financial support of family and friends.  Not only will you be supporting me with this ambitious project but most importantly the environment, Los Penasquitos Ranch House, Local Schools, and the greater community of San Diego. I have estimated that the cost of my project will be about $2000 and will need to be completed by October 26th.  If you are willing and able to donate to my project, it would be greatly appreciated. Personal Note: 
Ever since I was 6 I’ve always wanted to become an Eagle Scout and have an impactful Eagle Project.  What I didn’t realize is the person I would become by embodying the Scout Oath, Law, and Outdoor Code.  With this Project, it can truly impact the greater community of San Diego through helping the environment, local businesses, local schools, the Ranch House, and providing an area for education, recreation, and relaxation for the public.  I hope I can complete this project, achieve my childhood goal, and most importantly impact others through the combined effort of the San Diego community, Thank You.
