Violet's Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
Early this spring this amazing young family learned they would be adding a new member with a due date in December, a little girl, baby Violet! In recent weeks they have discovered that although she is healthy and growing as she should she will be born with a serious birth defect that will require immediate surgery to correct a condition called esophageal atresia.
This is a condition where a baby's esophagus does not connect to the stomach as it should and instead connects to the trachea leading to the lungs. Often in these cases the heart is effected. She will also require surgical intervention to correct a double aortic arch (main vessels of the circulatory system). Fortunately they will be giving birth in Ohio where world renowned surgeons will take the case.
Unfortunately this young family, like most, live on modest income. Christen is a 5th grade public school teacher and Austin works in operations at Eastman. The nature of Violet's condition will require them to relocate from East Tennessee to Ohio until she is born and for an unknown amount of time as she recovers. They will likely have to live in a hotel which as we all know is expensive and although they have good insurance the co-pays, deductible and living/travel expenses will be beyond their means as they will both be experiencing loss of income.
They need our help. Please consider donating to their cause, no amount is too small .
