FoodBlessed Food boxes to help those in need

January 2022 update: This campaign is no longer active. To donate please use the new campaign link https://gofund.me/9c919f8e

Lebanon has suffered a lot in the past 3 decades, but nothing compares to 2020!
It started with a political conflict that led to economic recession which caused inflation. The Lebanese pound was pegged at around 1500 per US$1; since October 2019, it has dropped to a fifth of this value . Banks imposed capital control, people couldn't withdraw their own money, salaries stayed still, prices went up, and people lost their jobs.

Then COVID-19 hit. Everything got worse, but the worst was yet to come.  Couple months later a huge explosion shook Lebanon. The blast killed more than 178 people, left more than 6500 injured, 300000 people homeless, and severely damaged critical health infrastructure and medical supplies.

By the end of 2020 unemployment reached record high and left the country suffering from a health crisis.

We are asking you to donate whatever you can; one dollar is a big help. Your contribution will save lives.

Who will get the money?

Co-founded in 2012, FoodBlessed is a local hunger-relief and food-rescue non-profit organization working on reducing the number of people going hungry in Lebanon, while making sure no good food goes to waste. The community-based, volunteer-driven food-relief and food-rescue program provides an effective and efficient solution to hunger, while addressing the serious and growing problem of food waste in Lebanon.

Their mission:

To unite and nourish communities through the power of food, social responsibility and volunteer-ism.

They work on:

• Hunger-relief - They work with the civil society and strategic partners to prepare meals and food boxes with basic food commodities to the underprivileged and destitute communities across Lebanon.
• Food-Rescue - They recover surplus edible food from social functions and events and excess/close-to-expiry products across Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and retail companies that would otherwise go to waste. The collected food is then delivered in the form of meals to people in need.

2020 Achievements:

#BeatHungerLb was launched by FoodBlessed in October 2019. By the end of 2020, FoodBlessed has successfully prepared and delivered 17,000+ food parcels and 100,000+ meals to underprivileged families and vulnerable communities across lebanon.

You can check their website
http://foodblessed.org/  to learn more about them. You can also WhatsApp them at anytime at +961 70 159 337.  Check out some pictures of the FoodBlessed volunteers and heroes below. More stories and pics on their Instagram account https://www.http://instagram.com/foodblessed

How will the money get there?

The money will be deposited in a US bank account and then wire transferred to FoodBlessed Lebanese bank account. Bank's transfers and donations acknowledgement receipts will be posted here for full transparency.

Why $30k goal?

This is the amount of donations FoodBlessed needs every month to reach its monthly goal of 1,500+ families in dire need for food assistance across lebanon.
I am starting with $30k and will increase the amount everytime the monthly target is reached!

The target for 2021 is 21,000 food boxes and I hope you can support FoodBlessed in reaching this goal with your generosity.
Again, as I mentioned earlier, no amount is too little and every little bit helps.
