Help kids in Cambodia to build a better life

For almost 10 years now, Zinc has supported the incredible Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF), a not-for-profit, non-religious and non-political organization that directly supports about 90 families and almost 500 people in Soksan Village in Cambodia.

CKF’s underlying philosophy is one of providing a “hand up, not a hand out”. Their aim is to educate and empower the people of Cambodia through grassroots projects which have included building of a school, a women’s refuge, a community garden, and providing local families with low interest loans.

In spite of what has been achieved there is still a long way to go. That is why Zinc also supports CKF by sending over team members each year to provide on-the-ground assistance.

Why are we fundraising?

In October 2024 a passionate team of Zinc volunteers will go to Cambodia. We would love your help to raise and bring with us funds to:

• support travel costs for the Mishcam Project and

• most importantly, support CKF initiatives.

What is the Mishcam project and how will your donations contribute to it.

With your donation you will enable a team of 9 people to participate to Mishcam by covering travel and ground expenses – and most importantly by directly donating to CKF. The team will be working directly with CKF in Soksan Village - once one of Cambodia’s poorest villages – providing support for construction, medical assistance, teaching , training, designing, planning or whatever else the team members are good at.

What are CKF initiatives and how your donations can contribute to them.

Through your donation, you can contribute to a wide range of projects tailored to address the specific needs of the Soksan community. These initiatives aim to create positive change at both the community and family levels, fostering a belief in collective responsibility for improving the world.

Soksan International School

Soksan International School (SIS) is CKF’s major project with 439 students - 220 girls and 219 boys - studying 5 days a week. CKF is giving its students not just a place to learn, but the ability to continuously develop skills they will need throughout their life such as computer and internet skills, research and reading ability, critical thinking, healthy skepticism and more.

Medical Program

CKF medical centre provides basic medical care to over 400 people who would otherwise simply go without. CKF treat what is possible with limited resources, and for more serious problems, they take patients to hospitals/clinics and cover all of the costs. People who were previously not receiving any treatment at all are now being treated for Tuberculosis, Epilepsy and HIV.

Women’s Program

Besides providing medical treatment to hundreds of women, CKF also provide monthly women’s health sessions and cover important topics such as: contraception, personal hygiene, sexually transmittable infections and more. They also provide clean underwear and sanitary pads to all women in Soksan local community.

Every little bit makes a difference to these families, and we would love for you to be a part of this amazing cause. Funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards building a better future for the people of Cambodia.

I løbet af de sidste 10 år har Zinc støttet Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF), en non-profit, ikke-religiøs og ikke-politisk organisation, der direkte støtter omkring 90 familier og næsten 500 mennesker i den fattige Soksan Village i Cambodia.

CKFs grundlæggende filosofi er at give "a hand up, not a handout". Deres mål er at uddanne og styrke befolkningen i Cambodia gennem græsrodsprojekter, som har inkluderet bygning af en skole, et kvindetilflugtssted, en fælleshave og give lokale familier lån med lav rente.

På trods af det, der er opnået, er der stadig lang vej igen. Derfor støtter Zink også CKF ved at udsende teammedlemmer hvert år for at yde hjælp på stedet.

Hvorfor samler vi ind?

Vi sender et passioneret team af Zink-frivillige til Cambodia i oktober 2024!

Holdet vil arbejde direkte med CKF i Soksan Village - en af Cambodias fattigste landsbyer - som pga CKF har fået tilført en betydningsfuld skole for børn. Uddannelse er et af mange vigtige redskaber for at komme ud af fattigdom, og desværre har revolutionen i slut 70’erne sat det offentlige skoletilbud så langt tilbage rent fagligt, blandt andet pga. mangel på uddannede lærere, at den ikke er til stor nytte i dag.

Vi vil sætte stor pris på din hjælp til at rejse hårdt tiltrængte midler til at støtte vores initiativer. Din donation er utrolig værdsat og vil hjælpe CKF med at skabe en varig positiv indvirkning for befolkningen i Soksan Village.

Hvad skal vi lave?

Vores team vil yde praktisk støtte til lokalsamfundet på et utal af måder.

Soksan International School

På Soksan International School tilbyder vi gratis daglige måltider til elever og personale. Udover faglig uddannelse, som primært foregår på engelsk, modtager børnene også svømmeundervisning, forståelse for dyrkning af afgrøder og brugen af dem samt viden om hygiejne og sundhed. Gratis uniformer og transport til og fra skolen skaber sikkerhed for elever og personale, og er derfor en vigtig del af den obligatoriske støtte fra CKF. Hjælpen indebærer også alt fra opgradering af cyklonhegn, reparation af faciliteter på skolen, til installation af sæder på det lokale sportsstadion eller planering af jordarealer til at bygge på – vi vil være der for aktivt at give en hånd med!

Medicinsk program

Vores lille lægecenter i Soksan Village giver almen lægehjælp til over 400 mennesker, som ellers bare ville være foruden. Vi behandler, hvad vi kan, og ved mere alvorlige problemer kører vi patienterne til hospitaler/klinikker og dækker alle omkostninger.

Kvindeprogram

Udover at yde medicinsk behandling til hundredvis af kvinder, tilbyder vi også månedlige sundhedskonsultationer for kvinder og dækker vigtige områder som: prævention, personlig hygiejne, kønssygdomme og mere. Vi leverer også rent undertøj og hygiejnebind til alle kvinder i vores lokalsamfund.

Hver lille donation gør en stor forskel for disse familier, og vi vil sætte umådelig stor pris på, hvis du vil tage del i denne fantastiske sag. Midler indsamlet gennem denne kampagne vil gå direkte til at opbygge en bedre fremtid for befolkningen i Cambodia.
