Reaves Twins 8th Grade Trip

Hello Family & Friends!
It is hard to believe Ruby & Savannah are turning 13 and will soon be in 8th grade! They came home from school last week and mentioned there would be trip to Washington D.C., New York City and Boston for their 8th grade class.

I am a lover of history and they have grown up learning about their heritage and their ancestors so naturally I wanted to hear all about this potential adventure. To my dismay they said "mama, we know there is no way our family can afford this, let's just drop it". I did not want their knowledge of our finances to squash their daydream of going (which I KNEW they had) so we played the "if money wasn't an issue" game....

Their eyes lit up as they talked about the Smithsonian Museums and the wreath laying at the tomb of the unknown soldier, the Kennedy eternal flame and Visiting Mt Vernon. "Mom, we would get to see George Washington's home like, we ARE Washington's (George Washington's grandfather was our ancestor's uncle)!!"

They talked about the fancy tour bus that was going to take them to New York City where they would get to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. They would get to spend time in Central Park and "get all dressed up and go to a Broadway Show and have our picture taken in Times Square, at night!"

"and this year, they get to go to Boston too!" Fenway Park, the Constitution Ship and of course Savannah is THRILLED about the Boston Ghost Tour.

I told them I would go to the meeting and hear all the details. Without displaying the immense parental guilt I was feeling, I asked them not to get their hopes up but that I would try to see what our options were. When I arrived home from the meeting they had already decided they couldn't put that pressure on me and said "it's decided, we aren't going".

Both of these girls are straight A students'. They are more help to this single mom and do more than any kid should have to at their age, and they are so gracious about it. I KNOW this experience would open their minds to things that will help shape the course of their lives, an experience they would NEVER forget.

So, I paid the deposit and clicked the automatic withdrawal from my bank account for $828/month for the next 7 months, trusting in the powers that be that I will be able to pull it off.

With all that said, I am swallowing my pride and asking anyone and everyone to help me get these two deserving young ladies off on this adventure. Thank you for reading, helping if you can and for sending this along to anyone that you think might be able to help.
With gratitude,
Brandy
