Help Paola After Tragic Loss

Hello, my name is Nadia and I’m raising funds for my Aunty Paola, who can no longer afford her rental and is at serious risk of becoming unhoused.

If you know Paola, you’ll know she is one of the most giving, generous, and compassionate people. She’s a true earth angel who has spent her life in service to others.

Just six months ago, her beloved husband of over 40 years, Swamiji, suffered a traumatic medical emergency at home and, although briefly revived, sadly passed away in hospital later that day.

Since then, Paola has been grieving an unimaginable loss—while also facing devastating financial hardship. Together, Paola and Swamiji ran a not-for-profit spiritual ashram from their home, pouring their hearts and souls into creating a place of peace, love, and healing. With Swamiji gone donations to the ashram (its only source of income) have almost completely stopped and Paola is struggling to make ends meet.

To make things even more difficult, Paola is the carer for her daughter who lives with complex health issues and requires care, support and regular medical appointments. This all takes a lot of time and energy, making packing up a slow process.

Despite her strength and resilience the situation has become overwhelming.

Paola is now almost 80 years old and, without assets or life insurance, she has been using up her superannuation just to keep a roof over her head. That money is almost gone and the threat of being unhoused is real.

We’ve reached out to many services, and she’s on several waiting lists—but time is running out. Renting as an elderly pensioner with no other income is proving extremely difficult. This could happen to anyone, and many people, especially older women, have ended up homeless in Melbourne.

Your donations will go towards helping her cover living expenses - giving her much needed time to pack up and find alternative living arrangements so she can continue being of service and fulfilling her life’s spiritual purpose.
