Dyspraxia Dialogues

Hi, my name is Catherine and I am fundraising for a community peer support/activism group called Dyspraxia Dialogues which I am the founder of. I received a late diagnosis of dyspraxia and since then have been passionate about raising awareness and offering support to others struggling with this condition. Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder) is a condition which affects motor control, organisation and planning and is a type of neurodivergent condition as well as a physical disability and specific learning difficulty. There is not much awareness of the condition in comparison to other conditions such as autism or ADHD. Our group has been running peer support sessions both face to face (Norfolk based) and online for anyone UK-wide who would like to access the support and meet others who understand. Sadly we have had to stop advertising the UK-wide support due to the costs of the Meetups subscription, so we would ideally like to be able to continue offering these groups UK-wide. We would also like to be able to create a website and create information/materials we can share in training and awareness raising sessions. We have been asked to go in and speak at a local charity to inform youth workers and counsellors about this condition, which is very common but not well understood. We hope to roll out the support groups, training availability and information much more widely, at the moment we are simply a community group but in time hope to grow this. This feels timely as The Dyspraxia Foundation recently closed and this has left a lot of dyspraxic people without support.
