Update Leitrim Village's AED's (Defibrillators)
Donation protected
Cardiac Arrest doesn't discriminate - it can happen to anyone. Early CPR and early defibrillation can make the difference between life and death. This is especially important in rural areas when ambulances can be far away.
The Leitrim Village Community Defibrillator Scheme was set up in 2009 when four defibrillators were purchased for the village. Local volunteers have maintained training in CPR and the use of defibrillators.
Thirteen years on, some of the defibrillators have reached the end of their lifespan and need to be replaced. Several other items also need to be purchased. The group needs to raise at least €5,000 to cover the cost of the following:
Two replacement defibrillators - a total of €2,200
Pads, battery sets, and spares cost €150 each and must be replaced every four years or in case of use. (€1000)
Ongoing service and maintenance costs
Training costs, including the purchase of equipment that has been loaned up until now - approximately €1000
AED cabinets will need replacing over time as they weather outside -approximately €500
Improved signage, including road signs - approximately €500
Please consider donating to this vital community service if you live in the Leitrim Village area, visit regularly or have connections to the community.
