My brother Dustin has been fighting cancer for the past 4+ years. The following timeline is a representation of how hard Dustin has been fighting. Dustin is a fairly private person so many people may not be aware of just what he has been through. Unfortunately the cancer has fought harder and he has devastatingly been told he is nearing the end of his fight. Our family could use some support and so we are reaching out to friends/family.

In December 2025 Dustin qualified for a clinic trial in Vancouver for January 2026. Unfortunately the cancer grew aggressively and quickly which made him unable to participate.
-December 2025 – Kelowna - Radiation on thyroid
2026
Over the month of January Dustin experienced intense pain and lost his mobility due to the fast growing and invasive cancer along his spinal cord.
-January 26th – Taken by ambulance from Trail hospital to Kelowna hospital

-January 31st – Kelowna – Finally flown by air ambulance to Vancouver for spine surgery
-February 1st - Vancouver – Spine surgery (first surgery of what was to be multiple in an attempt to give him back use of his legs).

Following the spine surgery Dustin started having problems with his heart rate/blood pressure. The two main areas of concern currently are his liver and lungs. The masses in his lungs and pleural disease are growing quickly. The cancer is irritating the lining of his lungs causing fluid buildup which he has a drain in for currently. He has a metastatic mass in his chest pushing on his heart and the veins leading to his heart. Because of this pressure the heart cannot fill as much as it needs. His liver disease is stable however the mass is significant.
Ontop of everything Dustin has now contracted Covid. He is on an antiviral and antibiotics. The doctors are very concerned that in his current immunosuppressed state he may not be able to recover from covid and complications are likely. As Dustin's last chance at extra time he has chose to do a week of strong radiation on the mass in his chest. Typically they would wait until he recovers from covid to do radiation but Dustin can't wait. The tumor is very fast growing. Radiation started Thursday February 13th.
Ideally we hope Dustin to complete Radiation and be stable enough to be transported back to Trail to spend his remaining time and be with family.
To date Dustin is aware of cancer involvement in his liver, kidney, spine, lungs, chest, neck and pelvis. I’m sure I am missing a few procedures in this timeline of the past 4 years but it gives an overall idea of just how HARD he has fought and his still fighting. This does not include the countless ct scans, MRI scans, blood/urine tests, medications and appointments.
Along beside him every step of the way our mom Darlyne has been there for him. Being his support person, cooking him meals, picking up presciptions, driving him to Kelowna and Vancouver for the many treatments/surgeries, taking alot of time off work and selflessly dedicating herself to be with Dustin whenever he needed. Helping him navigate this incredibly complicated cancer journey. She has done absolutely everything.

The funds raised from this gofundme will provide my mom the ability to spend every remaining minute with Dustin that he has without the financial worry. To be with her son and provide anything he may need. Darlyne has been staying in nearby accommodation to the Vancouver hospital the past couple weeks. She will stay there as long as Dustin is still there.
Any remaining funds will be used for Dustin’s last wishes.
From our family to you, thankyou.
