The Dunkins are adopting! After having Finn, I (Lisa) knew that the Lord changed my heart massively by opening it up for all children, which led me to know that I'd want to adopt one day. I hid that in my heart and after having Skye, felt like she was the last biological child. Rob then shared his desire to adopt about two years ago, and with that, the process began.
We decided to move forward with adopting from the state foster system. We already have a possible match with a sibling group of TWO children (ages 4 and 6). The story of how the Lord brought these two to our attention is WILD, but we'll wait to share when more is finalized. Although all can change in an instant, it does appear per the Guardian Ad Litem that we are working toward becoming their forever home.
We are in the process of preparing our home and purchased a larger car to contain everyone. We are looking to raise funds to help us with the overall costs - ie: home study, court and legal fees, required training, additional storage furniture, bunk beds, possible family coaching/training post-adoption, schooling, and general expenses for adding two children.
We firmly believe that God cares for the orphaned and we are already seeing so many glimpses of wild stories being written. We are excited and hopeful. Although adoption is bittersweet as it comes with a major sense of loss and trauma for the children, we are praying that our home will be a place of healing and laughter and hope in Jesus.
If you feel led to give - big or small, we are extremely grateful for any donation made. It is a gift to us, and we truly appreciate the support.
