Dunbar Post 1642 Rehabilitation

Donation protected
The American Legion Dunbar Post 1642 is a veteran’s organization formed in March 1947 by African American veterans who were not initially welcomed or invited to other Posts. As we approach our milestone - 75th year, the Dunbar Post is ethnically diverse and performs the beliefs and philosophies of the American Legion, the largest Veterans organization in the world.

Our Syracuse, New York location, purchased in 1971, is a 100-year-old building that is unfortunately in dire need of repairs to the siding and roof. The cost is too large for us to cover on our own.

As we approach this 75-year milestone, we ask for your help with building repairs (roof, siding) that will sustain us through the next 75 years. We hope to start this project in Spring 2022. Thank you for your contribution to preserving history.
