Please support our dear friend, Dubraska (Duby) Sosa-Heydet, become an American citizen. Duby is a legal permanent resident, but there is a substantial financial cost to gain citizenship.
Duby moved to United States from Venezuela 20 years ago to attend art school in Pittsburgh. While in school, their family was granted political asylum in the U.S. But because Duby was over 18 years old, they did not qualify for asylum with the rest of their family. That began an incredibly long and difficult path for Duby to officially call the U.S. home. Now that they are so close to gaining citizenship, closing the financial gap to cover the final expenses is incredibly urgent.
A long-time resident of Philadelphia, Duby is well-known and well-loved across various communities. Duby currently works for a local non-profit to secure housing and other resources for at-risk youth. They are a veteran of the bar & restaurant industry and a retired roller derby badass.
If you have ever spent time with Duby, you know the love that they emanate for those around them. It’s time to return that love with the last bit of help they need to become a U.S. citizen. And if you don’t know Duby, please consider assisting our Latinx, queer, non-binary friend. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
