New driveway
John & Pat Kvidera recently moved from their home in Traer, Iowa that they have lived for the past 48 years. John has lived and worked in the area for most of the past 90+ years as well as a Korean War veteran, and Pat served the community many years as a nurse. The home was put up for sale once they were moved out.
As many of you know, their driveway is shared with the next door neighbors, as it has been that way since they moved in to the home in 1972 ( and most likely had been that way far before then). The current neighbors moved in to their home a few years after 1972.
Once they had left their home and moved to Indiana, the neighbors informed the realtor that the driveway was no longer going to be accessible to even show the home for prospective buyers, or the new owners once the home was sold. The neighbors then installed a fence in the middle of the driveway, which does not even allow access to their home until a new driveway could be installed. At the street entrance, the driveway is on the neighbors property and it then splits to the 2 properties.
This came as a total surprise to John & Pat, as this was never formally proposed by the neighbors in the past 40+ years while they were living there. Rather, they waited until the day the home was put up for sale and they had moved out! John & Pat are living on a fixed income (Social Security) as they are retired, and had not planned to be paying for this unexpected expense. This could have been handled many years earlier in a much more neighborly fashion. Unfortunately, this will cause a delay in getting the house sold until the driveway is resolved.
We are asking for your help in building a new private driveway.
Thank you so much!!
