Rough Sleeper Winter Warmth Appeal

Donation protected
Following the former Home Secretary, Suella Braverman’s outrageous comments, while she may no longer be in office, we do not want her words to leave a lasting mark in peoples’ minds.
Homelessness is a crisis, not a choice.

We are appealing for tents, winter sleeping bags and ground sheets you no longer need or we are asking if you would please contribute to our fundraiser to help us purchase these items for those who need them.

No amount is too small.

Your support can provide immediate shelter to those forced onto the streets.

A tent is not a home anyone would choose. It's a last resort for those who have nowhere else to turn.

Cool to be Kind is a Chelmsford based community project supporting Rough Sleepers, homeless and vulnerable people. We are comprised of wonderful volunteers who all share the same desire to provide kindness to those in need.

Through our street outreach Warm Hearts for Cold Hands we provide essential tents, sleeping bags, ground sheets and clothes to those in need.

It would be fantastic if you would also kindly help us and share this appeal far and wide on your social media.

A little bit about us at Cool to Be Kind:
In 2015 the Rucksack Project was launched in response to the growing number of rough sleepers on our streets. The Project was a huge success with over 300 rucksacks being donated.

After our second Rucksack Project event in 2016, the group decided to widen the scope of support to achieve more and so ‘Cool to be Kind’ was formed. We also began working with other outreach groups involved in providing help to rough sleepers on the streets. The Rucksack Project is also running this year if you would like to help with that too.

Cool to be Kind was founded by five volunteers, to date has grown and volunteers now total 15. Each volunteer brings their differing fields of expertise, to drive Cool to be Kind towards helping the homeless and vulnerable of the local community. We are proud of our growing number of volunteers and their immense kindness. From the ‘Food Runners’ and ‘Warm Hearts for Cold Hands’ outreach; ‘Street Support Chelmsford’ development, to our administration, marketing and accounts, we would be nothing without our volunteers. It truly is ‘Cool to be kind’!

As we evolved, Cool to be Kind established two main aims:

1. To support rough sleepers by providing much needed equipment and provisions.
In this respect, we currently collaborate with a wide variety of outreach groups, schools, services, and organisations. Provisions include amongst others; tents, sleeping bags, clothes and other items as the need arises.

2. To highlight and lobby/drive for systemic change

Please see our website for more information about us.
