Hi I'm Drew and I'm currently a student at Western Washington University.
I'm starting this GoFundMe in hopes that I can raise enough money to travel to Cambodia in the summer of 2018.
However this won't just be a vacation for me. While staying there over a 5 week period, I will be working with a team of other like-minded people and we will be working to better the local community and environment.
For two weeks we will be working in a local village, building houses for homeless families, classrooms for schools, or any other shelter the community may need.
Following those two weeks we will then spend two weeks in another part of Cambodia, once again building for the community, but also working with rescued elephants and homeless dogs and rehibilitating them. These elephants have been tortured and haunted by being forced to work in an illegal logging scheme, where they get whipped and abused from a very young age in order to haul logs. We will be working to nurse them back to health and give them a life they deserve.
For the remainder of time we'll be there, we will be working in the water to help build one of the largest man-made coral reefs in the world. By doing this, we will not only be helping the marine life, but we will also be helping the ecosystem as a whole, and the surrounding communities as well.
The funds I'm asking for will cover the costs of my housing, meals, leisure, and also cover all the costs of the supplies needed to help the community.
It's very hard to get a spot in this program and in order to secure a spot I will need to pay a down payment of $1122.50. The sooner I can get this payment in, the better.
If you choose to support me on this adventure, it would mean the absolute world to me. You would not only be making a tremendous impact in my life, but the lives of counltless others in Cambodia as well.
