Help Me Pursue My Dream: Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy at the European University of Madrid (Universidad Europea de Madrid)
Who am I and what am I raising funds for?
My name is Hugo, I am 18 years old, and I am from Latvia. In November 2024, I applied to the Faculty of Sports Sciences at the European University of Madrid (Universidad Europea de Madrid). I successfully passed the entrance exams and was accepted into the English-taught Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, which started in September this year. I am fundraising to cover my tuition fees.
Why is this cause important to me?
I have always been fascinated by science and have wanted to understand the “why” behind everything. Over the years, I have developed a strong passion for health, wellness, and helping people improve their lives. I constantly study topics such as healthy eating, human habits, and physical activity.
As a long-time table tennis player, I have personally experienced how sport can strengthen both body and mind. I truly believe that every person has incredible health potential — they just need the right guidance to unlock it. Studying physiotherapy will allow me to provide this guidance and help people recover from injuries, regain mobility, and improve their quality of life.
Why did I choose this university?
The European University of Madrid offers:
Training with real patients from day one in leading medical centers.
Over 1,000 hours of clinical practice in top healthcare institutions.
Advanced therapeutic methods for treating injuries and neurological, respiratory, and musculoskeletal conditions.
Integration of modern technologies such as motion analysis tools, electrotherapy, and virtual reality into rehabilitation.
Development of strong clinical reasoning, decision-making, and communication skills.
In addition to studying in English, I have also learned Spanish and can communicate fluently — a skill that will help me greatly both in my studies and in everyday life in Madrid.
Why do I need your help?
I applied for the university’s academic scholarship because my average high school grade was 8.5/10 (the minimum requirement was 7.5). Unfortunately, the scholarship budget this year was smaller, and I did not receive the funding I was expecting, even though it initially seemed likely I would receive 100%. To qualify this year, my average grade would have needed to be 8.68 — I was very close.
My family had not planned to cover my tuition fees. However, I do not want to give up, and with the help of friends, acquaintances, and relatives, I want to try my best to continue.
Tuition at the European University of Madrid is 1,400 euros per month. My family is covering my living and food expenses. I am currently in my third month of studies, and I am truly grateful for everything I have learned so far.
Thanks to GoFundMe donations, private contributions, and the support of my family, I have been able to cover the initial payments — for which I am incredibly grateful. But in December, I need to pay the next installment of 5,600 euros, which covers the following three months of tuition. I already have 1800EUR, but I still need 3800EUR.Without this funding,
I will unfortunately not be able to continue my studies.
How will the funds be used?
All donations will go directly toward:
Tuition fees.
How will I receive the funds?
All donations through GoFundMe will be transferred to my personal Spanish bank account, from which I will pay the tuition and study-related expenses. This will allow me to continue my education.

My promise to you
I know this is my path, and through it I will be able to give back to society by helping people improve their health and quality of life. Your support will not only help me achieve my dream — it will also empower me to help many others.
Do you believe I can make it? Will you help me?
With gratitude,
