Dream Here: MLK Day Fire Relief Fundraiser for Altadena

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Kat Patronis, and I’ve been living in Los Angeles for about 3 years, but I’m originally from Memphis, TN where MLK played a pivotal role in leading Civil Rights in the US South.

MLK is one of my biggest heroes. He changed the sociopolitical and economic landscape for Memphians. I believe one of the reasons MLK was so influential in making radical change is attributed to his focus on individual, personal and inner transformation. When people feel seen, heard, and encouraged, they’re more capable of understanding and perceiving themselves in context to their community and greater society. Self-actualisation goes a long way to improving community wellness. A healthy person has the power to create a healthy community! It all starts within.

One of LA’s historic Black communities, Altadena, which originated as a response to the Civil Rights movement in the US South was devastated in the recent, January 2025 LA fires so in honor of MLK, I’m hosting a health and wellness event to empower people so that we can continue our service and continue efforts to rebuild community.

Today I’m calling on locals to join us for Dream Here: MLK Day Fire Relief Fundraiser for Altadena, an event supporting Altadena families and Black communities affected by LA fires. Let’s come together to make a difference and show our community spirit by first giving ourselves space to relax, breathe, recover, heal, dance and connect.

We’re meeting 6-9PM PST
at GoodPeople Coffee Co
11609 Santa Monica Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90025

$30 minimum donation to enter.

Don’t miss out on this chance to **give back** and have a good time with friends and neighbors as we face rebuild and restoration.

Today’s schedule features Superbloom Collective who will offer a DJ set and guided breath work. Next Alicia “ACE” Easter will lead us in a trauma response meditation to overcome grief and loss. Together we’ll bounce back from tragedy and find strength for rebuilding the future. Once our intentions have been set, we’ll dance and groove to live instrumental band, Em and the Gems @emthemaster @adrianyoungnd @brannonbassworkz @sebastianfilm8. Finally, we’ll close out our celebration with DJ Symonne’s @its_symonne house set inspired by MLK.

For those who can’t attend the event in person, I’m hoping you’ll contribute to this fundraiser to meet the fire relief needs for Altadena. So many of us know at least one person who has lost their home to these fires. All funds will go directly to the impacted families. Please give if you’re able.

This is the least I can do to serve MLK, his vision, and his dream for future society. Now, let’s have some fun and listen to great music!
