We are a group of young Yazidis (Surviving Children) who were just children when ISIS abducted us during its invasion of Sinjar (Shingal). We grew up amid pain and loss, but the world has forgotten our suffering and has not listened to our voices as children who survived that tragedy.

Many of us lost our fathers, mothers, or even both parents, leaving us to face life alone. Today, we strive to be the voice for those who have none and to extend a helping hand to orphans and struggling families in Sinjar and the camps.

The Yazidi New Year is approaching—a day of renewal and hope. Yet, some children will not have the chance to celebrate simply because they cannot afford even the simplest joys, like colored eggs. Imagine an orphaned child watching others hold beautifully decorated eggs while they have none.

We want to change that. We want to bring smiles to their faces, even in small ways. A small amount may not mean much to you, but it could be the difference between a child feeling left out and one who gets to enjoy the holiday like any other. Be part of this initiative and bring hope to those who need it.

Surviving Children

نحن مجموعة من الشباب الإيزيديين (الأطفال الناجون) الذين كانوا أطفالا عندما اختطفهم داعش خلال اجتياحه لسنجار (شنكال). لقد كبرنا وسط الألم والفقدان، لكن العالم نسي معاناتنا، ولم يُصغِ إلى أصواتنا كأطفال نجوا من تلك الفاجعة.

كثيرون منا فقدوا آباءهم أو أمهاتهم، أو حتى كلا الوالدين، ووجدوا أنفسهم في مواجهة الحياة بمفردهم. واليوم، نحاول أن نكون صوتًا لمن لا صوت لهم، ويدا تمتد لمساعدة الأيتام والعائلات المحتاجة في سنجار والمخيمات.

رأس السنة الإيزيدية يقترب، وهو يوم يحمل معاني التجدد والأمل، لكن هناك أطفالًا لن يكون لهم نصيب في الاحتفال، فقط لأنهم لا يملكون ما يكفي للحصول على أبسط الأشياء، مثل البيض الملون. تخيل طفلا يتيما يرى أقرانه يحملون البيض المزخرف، بينما هو محروم من هذه الفرحة البسيطة.

نريد أن نغيّر ذلك. نريد أن نرسم البسمة على وجوههم، ولو بشيء بسيط. مبلغ بسيط قد لا يعني لك الكثير، لكنه قد يكون الفرق بين طفل يشعر بالحرمان وآخر يستمتع بيوم العيد كبقية الأطفال. كن جزءًا من هذه المبادرة، وامنح الأمل لمن يحتاجه.
