Dr Campbell Costello, Outback Vet flood response

Hello, my name is Ian. I'm a researcher with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. With my colleagues at D'Central Research and Diagnostics we have worked closely with Dr Campbell Costello, a Queensland veterinarian and pilot from Outback and Airbourne.

Dr Costello, better known as "Cosy" grew up in Chaters Towers Queensland on a cattle station before becoming a veterinarian. Coming from a long line of aviators, Cosy combined flying and veterinary interests to work with remote livestock producers and communities in outback Australia.

As you might be aware, Queensland has recently suffered from severe floods. Our farmers have lost many thousands of livestock. In of itself this is heartbreaking but behind this the tragedy escalates as many have lost their close workmates and companion's, their horses.

Cosy has volunteed his time and taken it upon himself to fly to many regional locations, only accessible now by air, to urgently treat livestock and horses that have been standing in water for days to weeks.

With the help of other agencies and businesses his fuel costs have been supplemented but his day to day and aircraft maintenance costs are being worn solely by him. Donations made to this request will go towards accommodation, meal and other day to day costs as Cosy moves from town to town and cattle station to cattle station. More importantly, these donations will help Cosy maintain his aircraft safely for this response effort and others in the future.

Cosy, has shown that wonderful outback spirit to help, help those animals that have survived and those folk doing it tough.
