Down Under to Lift Up: Aussie Midwives Helping in Africa!

Hi everyone – friends, family, colleagues, and community,
We’re Chris, Meg, Alex, and Simone – four life-loving and passionate Midwives on a mission to Africa with hopes of making a real difference! Come June 13th, together we'll set off volunteering our time and skills for three weeks, helping to empower local healthcare workers and support staff in neonatal resuscitation and maternal obstetric emergencies - we are SO excited!
For Chris and Meg, this marks their second trip abroad. Having travelled to Tanzania in 2023 and working in the local maternity hospitals, they returned to Australia with their eyes WIDE, feeling inspired, and vowing to do it all over again! During their time away, the team quickly identified the gaps and challenges in neonatal and maternal emergency care. They determined, should they be lucky enough to return, their focus would be to provide knowledge and resources targeted at neonatal resuscitation and maternal emergency care - the aim is to make a lasting impact. Alex and Simone are THRILLED to join the crew this time round and cannot wait to get to work!
Our intention in Africa will be to tour between a variety of maternity hospitals as arranged by MediTrip. There we plan to create work stations that will leave behind not just tools, but the resources necessary to support ongoing education for those who need it most. We dearly hope to set up a foundation of support that will keep giving long after we’re gone! BUT we simply can’t do this alone...
With aspirations of raising $5000 we humbly reach out for help. Every donation, will go directly towards purchasing critical and much needed medical equipment, training materials, and other essentials that will stay behind to continue helping those most in need...
