DOVE - Dental Overseas Voluntary Elective
Donation protected
Established by 4th year Dentistry students at Trinity College Dublin, Dental Overseas Voluntary Elective (DOVE) is dedicated to aiding underfunded hospitals and communities in low income countries.
This year, a group of ten 4th year dental students are travelling to Tanzania and Nepal to undertake voluntary dental work in communities in need.
Funds raised support the program fees and transport costs for 4th year Dentistry students to provide oral health education and crucial dental treatment under supervision of dental staff members.
The Dental Overseas Voluntary Elective (DOVE) is an integral aspect of the 4th dental year, with students organising various fundraising events, from pub quizzes to preventative dentistry lectures. All proceeds contribute to sending DOVE members abroad to volunteer in underserved areas.
In 2019, 22 fourth-year dental students ventured overseas to provide voluntary dental care in nations like Peru, Guatemala, and St. Vincent. Throughout July and August, they delivered preventative, basic, and emergency dental services, including oral hygiene education and free dental supplies, to those lacking access to treatment.
Thank you for your generosity.
