Doulas en Español is a collective of professional Spanish-speaking doulas that provides compassionate and culturally competent care to the Hispanic community in New York City - including to newly arrived migrant families.

Over the past two years, more than 150,000 migrants have arrived in NYC, mostly from Central and South America, among them many pregnant people who have endured difficult journeys and arrive physically depleted, emotionally vulnerable and without resources. They are unfamiliar with the city and its health system, and lack a support system or community.

In response, we have launched a support program for pregnant migrant people in order to improve birth outcomes for them and their babies. Your donations will allow us to provide:

Individualized Doula Care for 38 participants: Every pregnant person deserves compassionate support. We will pair Doulas 1:1 with an expecting person to offer them unlimited counseling, informational and emotional support, as well as connections to resources as they prepare for their birth and life with a newborn.

Monthly Birthing Circle Community Meetings for 12 months: Shelter life can be lonely and challenging. In partnership with Mariel Acosta (Mutual Aid NYC and CUNY Graduate Center) we have been running monthly open house events that offer a safe, easy-to-access space for pregnant people to build community, enjoy a healthy meal, and meet with us in person to get advice and a warm welcome. We also provide a free boutique stocked with essential baby and maternity items and clothes every time they come.
