Hi, My name is Captain (Frank) Morgan, long-time resident of Discovery Bay and on the Home Owners Association (HOA) Board for the Harbor Bay Condominium Association (Blue Top Condos) in Discovery Bay.
Crime is escalating all over small communities like Discovery Bay, in fact, last month our HOA which consists of 122 individual Condo units, had numerous vehicles robbed on two separate nights. Working with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, we know that the suspects drive into our small community, do their robbing and stealing, then drive back home outside our community to enjoy the fruits of their ill-gotten gains.
Well ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!.... Our DB community doesn't have to just sit back and wait to file another theft report, WE can take ACTION to identify the thieves and help the CCC Sheriff's Department with information to lock up the parasites who prey on our community.
We plan to install two License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras on Marina Rd, just East of Willow Lake Rd. These very unique cameras will capture ALL vehicles which travel in or out of Marina Rd, with or without license plates. The Cloud-based software system also allows the CCC Sheriff Department real-time access to our cameras.
Monitoring the traffic in and out of Marina Rd will dramatically provide added security to the following interests.
- All HOA owners and tenants
- All Yacht Club members. Especially those who frequently park at the Yacht Club, and the Yacht Club itself
- The DB Marina facilities, such as the NEW restaurant, shop owners, guests who park to visit, parked boats & trailers, etc.
Therefore, I am calling on all HOA owners/tenants, Yacht Club members, Marina owners, Marina guests, and Marina shop owners, to support this fundraising effort and help your community harden its security posture. This two-year "lease" project will be the blueprint for recomending aproximatly 24 additional cameras at strategic locations inside Discovery Bay West and Discovery Bay proper to dramatically reduce crime of all types!
