This GoFundMe is for THE JAZZ COMMUNITY to be able to step up and offset the financial losses incurred by jazz musicians who have opted to cancel gigs at the Kennedy Center. These are very well-paying gigs that may have been real factors in the musicians' immediate financial plans related to housing, health care, et al.

We should recognize the sacrifice that they have made by not letting them bear the financial loss on their own. People can stand on principle but people also have to eat. Jazz musicians are not wealthy people and do not have a big margin for error with unforeseen financial losses.

UPDATE: The guys in the Cookers are now no longer included as a recipient because they have their own GoFundMe and it has been very successful. There is no longer any concern that they won't be able to compensate for their financial losses.

Please donate what you are able to. Funds will be allocated proportionally according to the specific guarantees that were made to the bands.
