Donnacha's Hair Chop for Children

Hi my name is Donnacha. When I was seven I saw a video of a girl who had lost her hair because of her cancer treatment and she was waiting for her new wig. I decided then that I was going to grow my hair long enough so that I could donote it to a charity that makes wigs for children that have lost their hair. I know that it is normally girls that grow their hair long but I knew that as a boy that l could do it too. My hair has now been growing for three years and will be long enough to cut at Halloween.

I have decided that now that it is ready to cut that I would also like to raise some money for charity. I have picked two charities that are very important and special to me.

The first is the Children's Grief Centre who are based in Limerick and they help children who have lost someone special to them. They helped my brother Oisin when my other brother Ultan died when I was two years old in 2014.

The other charity that I am hoping to raise some money for is the Dsylexia Association of Ireland. I have Dsylexia and this is sometimes very tough. This charity helps children with dsylexia to get help and support, and work to try and make sure that children with dsylexia are not treated any differently to other people in everyday life.
