Donna, Michael and boys need your help

Hi, my name is Debbie.  I am doing this fundraiser for my son’s family.  They are a hard working young family,  living in their home in Medford . Michael has been battling brain cancer since 2012. You would never know based on his positive demeanor and upbeat outlook on life. And then a devastating life changing event happened . A bathroom leak had been discovered because of water intrusion to a bedroom closet. While a water mitigation expert was there, michael had a very long grand mal seizure. He has been a experiencing consequences secondary to this event . This particular seizure really took a toll on Michael.  It has caused him to be unable to drive, memory loss, confusion to say the least. Their family hired an independent expert who detected toxic mold. This was the beginning of their chain of unfortunate events . Sheet rock was removed , carpet was pulled up which exposed Tile had been disturbed in the bedroom, which after being tested, was asbestos.  

The contractor moved everything into their livingroom which further contaminated the whole house.  During all this, Michael had to take a leave from his job due to his medical situation.  

In the meantime, the boys Tyler 6 and Zachary 2 and Donnas mom began getting sick as well. Very bad respiratory and digestive problems for the boys . Cognitive issues for Donnas mom.  Donna realized the house was making everyone sick. She is a nurse at Stony Brook. They moved out of the house. This was in April, and unfourtunatly they are still displaced. As the insurance company was aware, but wasn't making headway, Donna contacted a public adjuster for help. It seemed they were mislead and this was a bigger issue than he even thought and caused more problems and additional delays . Donna and Michael's only wish is to have their house repaired and  for it to be safe for their family live in. Donna had to take a leave from her job because the boys were so sick. They require multiple specialities. Most mold literate doctors require significant out of pocket costs for visits and treatment .

The insurance company moved them to a hotel where they stayed for about 2 months. From there stayed with other family members because the insurance company has turned a blind eye and is refusing to provide proper and fair coverage . They couldn’t get proper direction from the private adjuster. They have now retained an attorney for additional assistance which is an additional out of pocket expense. The public adjuster is no longer involved.  Here we are now in September and barely any closer to returning into their home . The insurance company only paying for the repairing of the bathroom. Donna hired an environmental consultant at thier expense and confirmed the entire house was contaminated with toxic mold . They have spent thousands of dollars on their own to remediate the house Because it is not being covered but there is still so much more to do . Tyler had to start school so they needed to be back in Medford. They bought a camper to alleviate that problem and put it in the driveway. Well,  this isn't an ideal situation . They had to throw everything away. All of thier furniture, toys, photos. Mostly all of everyone's , personal belongings. All the carpeting and tile floors were removed due to it all being asbestos.  Michael is no longer eligible for a leave and has been terminated after 17 years of service and fighting for a career he loves to support his family.

The funds are needed repair the house as additional mold been discovered . Due to the extreme severity of Tyler and Michaels mold allergy they require a medical grade hepa filtration system which requires changing the entire heating and cooling syatem. They need to replace all furnishings and personal items. They have exhausted their own funds and need the funds to fix the house asap so they boys can return to a normal life .  They will welcome any help to work on the house.

Black mold is no joke and is devastating to a family. Please help this family!
