Donation to contribute to the life of Bumi Sehat Foundation

Hello,

my name is Federica Masetti and I am an independent midwife.
I was born in 1992 in Bologna, Italy, and here is where I currently live and work.
I attended the Alma Mater Studiorum - Università degli Studi di Bologna, where I graduated cum laude in Midwifery in 2023.

I am raising money to make a donation to Bumi Sehat Foundation, a not-for-profit organization founded in the early 90s by the globally known midwife and advocate for human rights Ibu ("Mother") Robin Lim.
Raising money and donating them to BSF would make me a donor, providing the opportunity to go to Bali to volunteer as a midwife in Yayasan Bumi Sehat, the first clinic founded by Ibu Robin.

I have longed to go to Bali to participate in the daily activities of Yayasan Bumi Sehat since I first discovered it in 2011: being there would meet my needs for contributing to the life of this community and growing both professionally and personally, since I feel deeply connected with Ibu Robin's mission, dedicated to improving the quality of life of women, children, families and to encouraging peace by supporting communities.

Bumi Sehat clinics offer a comprehensive range of allopathic and holistic medicine, as well as pre and post-natal care, breastfeeding support, infant, child and family health services, nutritional education, pre-natal yoga and gentle, loving natural birth services: I would be able to experiment all of this and to give it back to my community once home.

Ibu Robin Lim, born in Iowa (U.S.) in 1956, became a midwife in 1991 and later she moved with her family to Bali, where she still lives.
She and her team began to offer pre-natal care, birth services and post-natal care in the small village where they lived. At the time in Indonesia maternal mortality rate was high and Ibu Robin and her team felt they could offer a midwifery-based model of care that could address the problem.
Since then the demand for birth services hasn't stopped growing and nowadays the Bumi Sehat Foundation runs six clinics between Indonesia and Philippines, with more than 300 people in the staff (between midwives, nurses, doctors), providing medical services to communities, education and scholarships, and support services in a variety of humanitarian efforts.

I will donate the entire amount of money that will be collected to the Bumi Sehat Foundation via an online payment through their website.

The money will be used to keep the clinics running and to pay for:
  • staff salaries;
  • sanitary material;
  • clothes for newborns;
  • general maintenance.

If I get the chance to go there I will be directly involved in spending some of the money, for example to buy clothes for newborns or sanitary material: it will be my pleasure to send pictures and keep you posted!

I am deeply grateful to the people who will participate in making this project so dear to me coming true! You are a fundamental part of this experience.
