Donating Eggs to Local Food Pantries

Donation protected
For many years , my family and I have been donating chickens, meat and eggs to various organizations produced on farms in the Washington County area. During this recent Coronavirus crisis, my daughter, Yael read in the local papers that many NYC food pantries were overloaded with requests for food and running low on supplies- especially for fresh eggs. She asked my husband if he could bring back extra eggs to donate from one of his trips upstate. Last week, my daughter, Sarah heard about farmers' markets all over the country that are being closed temporarily and thought about ways that we could find more eggs than we usually do to donate. After a couple of calls, my husband found that there are farmers in upstate New York and Southern Vermont that do not have access right now to their local farmers' markets because they are closed or cannot get their eggs down to NYC. Yesterday, my husband purchased as many eggs as he could get so that we could donate them to a local pantry in need. This morning, we donated 100 dozen eggs to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger on West 86th Street. We enjoyed doing this so much that my son Ezra asked if we could donate somewhere near his school the next time (yes, everyone in the family plays a part in this).

So, here is where I need your help. We would like to continue this next week and every week after that for as long as we can. Next week, we are planning on donating 100 dozen eggs to the pantry at the Kingsbridge Center of Israel in the Bronx. I am asking each of you to donate the cost of one dozen eggs- that is $4. If you would like to donate more, that is great, but I am asking you to donate $4 and to forward this information along to all of your friends via your social media accounts.

The max right now that we can do is about 100 dozen eggs a week so if we can collect more than $400 in one shot we will roll it over until the next week. We plan on alternating between the West Side Campaign Against Hunger and the Kingsbridge Center each week. If you know of any other pantries that are accepting egg donations, please let me know.
