As you all may have heard, one of the largest protests in recorded history is taking place right now. Farmers in India (including many of our own families and relatives) are asking the government to re-imagine the social safety net for local farmers. They are hoping to secure fair wages, support for families in crisis, and more.
Feeling deep longing to support our people, we hatched a plan to gather donations from Halifax to Vancouver, across Canada!
While in peaceful protest, communities are providing free food, meditation moments, and even menstrual health supplies in the city of New Delhi, the capital, after traveling long distances to arrive there from rural areas. All the collected funds will go to Hemkunt Foundation, which is actively providing relief with tents, food, water, and sanitation products to protesters. ₹1,999 INR (about $35 CAD) will provide one tent (houses 5 people) with supplies (water, blankets, pillows, and charging stations), but any amount donated is hugely helpful! We sincerely hope you are able to participate. Anyone who lives in Canada is welcome to donate.
Thank you so much for supporting this fundraiser! We will be closing this on January 31.
