Extrema pobreza en Los Naranjos, El Salvador

Hola a todos,

Somos Sean y Rocío, una pareja viajera que ha decidido emprender en El Salvador y ayudar a reconstruir un país machacado durante 40 años por una guerra y un régimen de Maras durísimo.

Ahora que ha acabado, lo que queda es un pueblo con ganas de vivir y salir adelante, con esperanza y sin miedo por fin.

Pero en este camino, encontramos otra gran realidad. Una pobreza abrumadora... estamos viviendo en uno de las zonas más pobres de la región cafetera, donde antes era imposible entrar. Ha habido asesinatos, se han tirado cuerpos, secuestrado personas, vendido familiares...

Estas familias lo han visto todo. Por eso queremos regalarles un nuevo comienzo, una manera digna y justa de vivir ya que nadie elige donde nace y ninguna de estas personas tiene la culpa de lo que han tenido que vivir.

Queremos recaudar dinero para dignificar sus casas, que no tengan que temer cada vez que llueve por si la casa se les viene abajo o si la ropa o comida se echará a perder. Y aquí llueve mucho...

Que puedan llevar zapatos, no solo chanclas. Que puedan comprar algo más que no sean frijoles o arroz. Que mejoren sus pequeños negocios y puedan emprender de una manera más productiva para ellos, para que el día de mañana sean libres de verdad.

Todos hemos escuchado hablar de pobreza, pero no somos conscientes de lo duro que es vivirla.

Y sí, todavía sigue pasando en pleno siglo XXI.

Ayúdanos con tu café del día, solamente lo que cuesta un café es suficiente para comenzar el cambio.

Hello everyone,

We are Sean and Rocío, a traveling couple who have decided to start a venture in El Salvador and help rebuild a country that has been battered for 40 years by a war and a brutal gang regime.

Now that it’s over, what remains is a people eager to live and move forward, with hope and finally without fear.

But along this journey, we encountered another stark reality: overwhelming poverty. We are living in one of the poorest areas of the coffee region, a place that was once impossible to enter. There have been murders, bodies dumped, people kidnapped, even family members sold...

These families have seen it all. That’s why we want to give them a fresh start, a dignified and fair way to live, because no one chooses where they are born, and none of these people are to blame for what they’ve had to endure.

We want to raise money to improve their homes, so they no longer have to fear every time it rains, wondering if their house will collapse or if their clothes and food will be ruined. And it rains a lot here...

So they can wear shoes, not just flip-flops. So they can buy something more than just beans or rice. So they can improve their small businesses and start ventures in a way that’s more productive for them, so that one day they can truly be free.

We’ve all heard about poverty, but we don’t realize how harsh it is to live it.

And yes, it’s still happening in the 21st century.
