Donation protected
Wilma Prins was born and raised in The Netherlands and ventured to the United States at age 19 on a work visa at a horse stable, Ots Sunrise Farm in DePere, Wisconsin. After 12 years working there, she moved to Door County in 2016, where she met Jason Schartner and they have been together for the past eight years. Wilma earned her United States Citizenship in July 2022 and has successfully started her own business, Maid in Door County. After suffering a miscarriage in November 2024, she was still experiencing health issues and had been hospitalized both at Green Bay Aurora and St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, where a kidney specialist diagnosed that she needed to have her ureter reconstructed. After two biopsies of the ureter came back nonmalignant, things still looked “suspicious” and after a great deal of testing, eventually Wilma was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Cancer in January 2025. Although there is no cure for this type of cancer, she is currently undergoing both radiation and chemotherapy.
As she faces her battle head on, we want her to know that her friends and family are right there with her. To know Wilma is to love her. She is vivacious, charismatic, and full of humor. Please consider donating to help her through this battle and help her beat cancer and come out stronger than ever.
