Support My Eagle Scout Service Project
Dear Family and Friends,
I hope this message finds you well! I’m reaching out to share an exciting and meaningful step in my journey toward becoming an Eagle Scout: my Eagle Scout service project. I’m partnering with Influence Church in Anaheim to install automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in their facility to enhance community safety. This project is deeply personal to me, as it was inspired by the recent loss of a church member. My goal is to ensure that life-saving equipment is available to prevent such tragedies in the future.
My Scouting Journey
I began my scouting adventure at age 9 in Cub Scouts and, at 11, bridged over to Boy Scouts, where I helped establish Troop 3993 as a founding member. Over the years, I’ve held leadership roles such as Historian, Chaplain, and Patrol Leader, learning invaluable skills like First Aid, Personal Finance, Wilderness Survival, and what it means to be a responsible citizen. I’ve served our community through beach clean-ups, Charter Organization appreciation events, and ceremonies like Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Flag Retirement, and various parades. My favorite scouting memory is our troop’s trip to Big Bear adding to the many countless miles hiking and nights camping under the stars in state and national parks.
To earn the Eagle Scout rank, I must complete 21 merit badges, over 600 rank requirements, demonstrate Scout Spirit and leadership, and lead a significant service project that benefits our community. This project is my final step toward achieving that goal.
About My Project
I’m leading the effort to raise funds and coordinate the installation of AEDs at Influence Church in Anaheim. These devices, which cost between $1,000 and $2,500+ each, can save lives during cardiac emergencies by delivering a shock to restore heart rhythm. My project involves:
Planning and Research: Selecting appropriate AED models and ensuring they meet safety standards.
Fundraising: Raising funds to cover the cost of the AEDs and training materials.
Coordination: Working with church leaders to install the devices and organize training for staff and volunteers.
Training: Arranging AED and CPR training sessions to ensure the community is prepared to use the equipment.
How You Can Help
Your support is crucial to making this project a success. Here’s how you can get involved:
Donate: Contribute to our fundraising goal of $3,000 to purchase two AEDs and training materials.
Spread the Word: Share this message with your network to raise awareness about the project and its impact on community safety.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to ensuring Influence Church is equipped to save lives.
Why This Matters
This project is about more than installing equipment—it’s about creating a safer environment for the church community and honoring the memory of a member we lost. By equipping Influence Church with AEDs, we can provide peace of mind and potentially save lives in the future. As the project leader, I’m overseeing every aspect, from securing approvals to organizing volunteers, to ensure its success.
Thank you for considering supporting me on this final step toward achieving my Eagle Scout rank. If you have any questions or ideas, please reach out to me directly. I’m excited to share this journey with you and make a lasting impact on our community.
Yours in Scouting,
Vito DeGeorge
